Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion National Parks

March 29, 2022  -  April 3, 2022

Hello Pierz Healy High Pioneers! Soon we will all meet in Las Vegas! My name is Bryce Hill and I will be your Explorica Tour Director for your great tour of Zion, Bryce, & Grand Canyons! Last year I got to travel with the 2021 Senior class and I am thrilled to be with the 2022 Senior Class. We will be doing some hikes in each of the Canyons. You need good walking shoes with good tread grip because of the loose rocks, sand and mud. Sunscreen and hats are a good idea, as the sun is more intense at the high elevations we will be at. A light jacket is a good idea. Some light gloves and neck scarf are good for early mornings and late evenings. Some days highs will be in the 70’s some days in the 50’s. Lows could range from 30’s to 50’s. Snow could happen briefly when we are above 8000 feet! I will meet you at baggage claim in the Las Vegas airport. See you soon! Bryce Day 1, Tuesday March 29! WE HAVE ARRIVED! We got to LAS, the Vegas airport 30 minutes early. We met our Tour Director for the week, Bryce and our great Driver for the week, Tom. After a quick stop to get an early lunch/late breakfast we were on our way. Our first stop was at VALLEY OF FIRE State Park, about an hour from Las Vegas. This was our first sighting of the famous “Red Rocks” of the American West. We were able to hike in the desert on “ Mouse’s Tank Trail (Mouse was an old time desperado who hid out in the hard to find canyon) walking through sugar fine red sand. The rocks have incredible shapes and some even have ancient Native American Petroglyphs over 4500 years old. The native people created the rock art by scratching the dark “Desert Varnish” off the Red Rocks to creat the pictures. We even saw Desert Bighorn Sheep in the wild! Back on the motorcoach we drove through the upper corner of Arizona before entering Utah. We got to Kanab, Utah just in time to check into our nice hotel and walk across the street for our Italian dinner. Then it was of to bed for some much needed sleep. Tomorrow we visit ZION NATIONAL PARK and we can’t wait to hike there!
