London Theater

June 14, 2018  -  June 21, 2018

We started today by taking the Tube to Shakespeare's Globe, the faithful reconstruction of William Shakespeare's original theatre which stood close by on the south bank of the river, for a visit and excellent interactive acting workshop. There was time afterwards for a visit to nearby Borough Market for some lunch, and the Tate Modern to see some amazing modern art, before we made our way up to the British Museum via a walk across the beautiful Millenium Footbridge and another ride on the Tube. At the British Museum we saw many fascinating objects, stolen by Britons from around the world during the past few hundred years! The Elgin Marbles, Rosetta Stone (key to the ancient Egyptian language of Hyrogliphics) and the Egyptian Mummies were highlights. Dinner tonight was chicken breast wrapped in bacon and cheese with salad and onion rings, followed by chocolate fudge cake. After dinner we travelled to Victoria station, catching a glimpse of 10 Downing Street (the Prime Minister's house) on the way. At Victoria we saw the amazing show Wicked in the Appollo Theatre, and the group really enjoyed this famous spin-off of the Wizard of Oz story. Back to the hotel now for a rest before our final full day tomorrow. Good night!
