With a slight delay we arrived in warm and sunny Athens. On the bus took we had our first Greek lesson. We checked into our rooms straight away . We then continued on the subway and got off in the heart of Athens, Constitution or Syntagma square. From there we strolled toward Monastiraki area. This is a much older area of town, with a little monastery and an old Turkish Mosque. We decided to sit down and have lunch as we were getting pretty hungry. It was our first introduction to Greek souvlaki's and giro's with pitta bread. Some of us even tried lamb from the oven. After some free time we continued our walking tour and saw the tower of the winds, the library of Roman emperor Hadrian and other monuments. We returned to the hotel for dinner. We were all a bit exhausted and went to bed early. Tomorrow we will climb the Acropolis!
