Day 2: June 4, 2019
Tuesday, June 4
Our first city visit today was into the Library of Congress. The collection spreads over 3 buildings, and just on almost 900 miles of shelves. The oldest building is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson. Many books that belonged to President Jefferson are housed in the Jefferson Room. From the LoC we walked through a tunnel under the street into the US Capitol building.
From the Capitol the Aztecs and the Falcons spent about an hour in the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of Natural History or the Museum of American History. Have your children tell you which they visited and can share their pictures.
We picked up lunches to go from the city's food trucks and went to .
Mt. Vernon, George Washington's plantation.
We came back through the historic section of Alexandria, VA for dinner and the "ghost" tour. And before heading back to the hotel, all enjoyed ice cream or gelato (Italian version of ice cream).
In the morning, we will leave for New York City.
