Day 4: June 22, 2017
The travel experience can offer many experiences from the unexpected to the wonderful and today was certainly one of those days! Due to abysmally heavy London traffic we missed our 08.31am Eurostar train to Oaris and ended up arriving considerably later than expected. As I was waiting for new tickets to be issued I learned that two other tour groups had also missed their trains as well as countless individuals who were queuing to purchase new ones, it was certainly "one of those mornings"! After checking in to our delightfully located hotel on the water front we headed in to Paris center for dinner close to Notre Dame Cathedral and then enjoyed some free time in the famous Latin Quarter. I walked our group to Rue Saint Jacques, originally built by the conquering Romans and one of the many roads from which springs the saying "all roads lead to Rome"! Our journey back to the hotel was eventful, to say the least, as the connecting stations to our suburbs hotel were experiencing problems on the lines. However we finally made it back to our hotel and as I write this diary our group is getting a much neede good night's sleep. Tomorrow morning we have Paris sightseeing coach tour with a local guide. I've also posted a couple of photos from dinner in London last night celebrating Samantha's 18th birthday! Happy birthday Samantha!
