Athens, Florence & Rome

We departed from the St James hotel shortly after 8am, wheeled our luggage to the meeting place and boarded our touring coach for the four hour drive to Rome, the “eternal city”. On the way we made a very short stop at Piazzale Michael Angelo that affords a splendid overview of the Renaissance city. A couple of hours later we stopped at a motorway Autogrill for rest rooms and an early lunch of delicious mozzarella and Parma ham sandwiches Italian style! Once in Rome we headed directly to the Colosseum to meet our local guide Antonella who will be with our group for the next three hours for a guided walk through Imperial Rome. All of our guided tours have been with whisper headsets, which is very convenient because one can wander while one listens so while we waited for the whisper man to arrive to arrive I took some group pictures in front of the Arch of Constantine and the Colosseum! After the Imperial Rome tour was over we had about 45 minutes free time for more photos, shopping, ice cream or coffees and then we walked the distance to Via Veneto for dinner at Ciao.Bella where we are now.
