Day 1: March 7, 2026
Today was our first day on the island. We all met at the airport and headed to Pinones, a beautiful oceanside area, where we grabbed some lunch. From there we headed to Old San Juan for a little sightseeing. We walked down the Paseo de la Princess and viewed the Raices statue that reminded us about the different cultures that make up the Puerto Rican population. Then we walked through the Puerta de San Juan, the only surviving city entrance portal from colonial days. We viewed the famous city walls and a cool statue called La Rogativa. We took a quick break to get limbers, a cool tropical flavored ice type break. Next stop was up to the San Juan Cathedral, where the body of Juan Ponce de Leon is entombed. Down the street from the cathedral was Parque de las Palomas, where some of us got close and personal with very friendly pigeons. Afterwards some of our group went to mass at the cathedral while others did a little shopping before meeting up for dinner at Juanes. Following an awesome meal we headed to our hotel to check in and finally get some rest.
