Paris & the Loire Valley

Our U.S. group kicked off its French journey with a dizzzing array of motions and emotions : welcome to life on a very fast lane in Paris. Right off the plane Mr. Jetlag on our tail, and a dive into a crazy Paris-style traffic-jam up to the hotel set on the outer beltway of the Parisian galaxy. The day unfolded as a baptism of breaking clichés about this great world-class capital. “Singing in the rain” became “singing in the subtropical dampness of the mythic maze of Parisian subway and suburban train corridors”. We’ve seen the other side of Paris : huge metropolis and densest city in the Western world including the U.S. A real adventure through the southern suburban sprawl, and for some of us a discovery of Versailles’ outstanding gardens and great castle, as others groups started their inner journey to central Paris, including Eiffel Tower gazing, the “Maison du Japon” and famed Latin Quarter. The epic thriller of this of-the-beaten-track acquaintance with Paris was crowned by a discovery of French-style pizzas (Flammekueches) near the Champs-Elysées (most famous avenue of the world, sorry 5th avenue…) Night ride back to our hotel finished us off with a whole array of trains, subways, buses and walks to our hotel right out of “Twin Peaks” (or was it “The Walking dead”?) A real movie of a day, Hollywood we got your next blockbuster, no kidding! You bet we caught some well-deserved zzzz.
