We left the hustle and bustle of ‘The Big Smoke’ behind us today, but after just two days I’m super cool London, we all know we want to come back to this great city someday. But we were starting our road trip today into the English countryside. We drove west into the mystical county of Wiltshire, famed for having more stone circles and pre-historic sites than any other county in Britain. We visited the most famous of all stone circles, the ancient wonder of Stonehenge. We had plenty of time to admire the stones and ask the same questions that have been asked for centuries...who built it, and why? Then we made our way to the county town of Salisbury, famed for its Cathedral with the tallest spire in England, and home to the 800 year old document, the Magna Carta. After visiting the cathedral we had free time for lunch, and some of us tried a traditional Roast Sunday lunch. Then we visited the impossibly pretty village of Lacock, and visited the Abbey which was a filming location for the early Harry Potter films. After time to wander around the gardens and the village, we made our way to our hotel for the night.
