Mérida, Chichenitza archeological site, Ikkil sinkhole for swimming, PLaya del CarmeN...............Leaving the city of Merida was sad we wished we could habe spent more time. The main p,aza in front of the colonial cathedral, with its monumental Mexican flag right in the center of the main plaza was so beautiful. It was raing but it did not interrupt our avti ities... MErida is a n old colonial city conquered by one of Corte's Captains - Francisco Montejo - it is a mix of cristianity old rituals, spanish and mayan language, where we can still see people on ohe streets dressed in their traditional old costumes. Embroided blouses made by mayan ladies at only 5 dollars!!!!!!!! Made shopping for the girls a paradise. Therewas something for everyone. Ice cream at Colon ice cream parlor, opened morethan a hundred years ago in the same place it is now - in front of the main Plaza - and so many colo ial building sourrounding the main plaza ks just a magic place to visit!!! ikkil sink hoe wonderful!!!
