Day 3: April 21, 2024
Today we woke up early in the morning and we start to explore the Tortuguero Canals. We boarded in our roofless boat so we can have maximun visual opening. We spotted many animal, like the White-faced Capuchin Monkey, the Howler Monkey, some more Basilisks and large Green Iguanas. We saw many aquatic birds, like the Green-baked Heron, the Lillte Blue Heron, the Great Heron and the Boat-billed Night Heron. We also spotted the Northen Jacana, a small birg walking on aquatic vegetation. And many Caimans, this is a reptile similar to a crocodile but smaller. Then we came back to our hotel for a delicious breakfast. Then we had some free time in the morning to enjoy the hotel and the pool. We had a good buffet lunch and shortly after we went to Cerro Tortuguero, an extint volcano that rises 119 meter and provides great views of the whole Tortuguero area. When we were on the Lookout Point, a troop of Spider Monkeys croosses through the trees in front of us, it was amazing!
Then we came back to our hotel and we had dinner there.
