Today 3 groups are going to be taken carey by Transfer TD Lorenza Berrini who is Italian but fell in love in Greece and she lives in Athens for many years. Below message from her:
Kalimera! Hope you are all well. Today's itinerary began with a new TD, Lorenza, and a panoramic drive in Athens, past the national gardens, Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Following this we made a photo stop at the Olympic stadium restored for the 2004 games, before ending our tour at the Syntagma square where we had a kodak moment with the Evzoni guards in their famous uniforms. After the guided sightseeing tour of Athens - first stop was the amazing Acropolis and a visit of the Parthenon. This is the ancient Greek temple dedicated to the godess Athena after whom the city is named.Around midday we walked down the hill for our walking tour of the city. En route we saw Hadrian' Library, the ancient Agora and the Roman Agora. Here in Plaka we took a break for some lunch - most of the group tried the tasty Souvlaki sandwich - a roasted meat wrap with salad and tzatziki (yoghurt and garlic) or one of the famous gyros. Afterwards there was time to explore this neighbourhood with its famous flea market and narrow streets filled with shops and tavernas. We took the rest of the afternoon at a leisurely pace, heading either to museums or...shopping! then we met up again with me to go back to hotel: time to pack and dine! We can't believe it's our last night of the tour. We've had such a wonderful experience in Europe - made new friends and memories to treasure for a lifetime....
