COVID-19 FAQs

We continue to proactively monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) with the support of our medical and risk management partners. Here are some answers to questions we are frequently hearing from customers:

Explorica by WorldStrides will cover up to $2,000 per participant for expenses incurred during the isolation period. What if a country changes their entry requirements before my program?

All participants must meet the entry requirements of the destination. If a vaccination or other entry requirement is put in place after participant enrolls in a program, it is the participant’s responsibility to meet the requirement, or otherwise cancel under the standard cancellation policy.

Does TripMate provide any coverage for changing travel requirements?

A change in the COVID-19 requirements for a destination would not fall under the covered reasons for cancellation and is not an event that can be covered under the plan. However, if the participant has purchased a Cancel for Any Reason plan and chooses not to travel, they would be covered under this plan.

Why wouldn’t canceled travelers receive the refund outlined in the Exceptional Circumstances section of your Terms and Conditions?

The refund for Exceptional Circumstances applies when events out of WorldStrides control make the performance of any trip to that destination impossible or impractical. WorldStrides has shown that trips are possible and practical from 2021-2023 with over 400,000 travelers enjoying tours within the US and overseas.

If the travel requirements change after I enroll, why am I subject to standard cancellation fees?

Explorica by WorldStrides incurs considerable costs in the planning and preparation for a tour. As travel has shown to be possible and enjoyable with country requirements such as vaccination, vendors and suppliers worldwide have adjusted penalties back to pre-Covid times. Travelers who enroll should understand the possibility of these requirements changing and the risks involved. Should travel requirements change to the point WorldStrides deems the trip impossible or impractical for any group, WorldStrides may enact the Exceptional Circumstance policy.

If I have travelers that no longer meet the entry requirements of a country, what are my options?

Outside of 60 days before travel, Program Leaders have the option of using our WorldClass flexibility policy to change tours or destination. Within 60 days travelers have the option of meeting the requirements or canceling their tour per the standard cancelation fees. We strongly encourage travelers to purchase our Cancel for Any Reason travel protection plan at the time of enrollment or within 14 days of enrollment to receive 75% of the non-refundable cancelation fees back, should they be unwilling or unable to meet the country requirements.
