Sales Executive / Program Consultant

The Sales Executive position for Explorica Inc. is responsible for the selling of educational tours for students. Depending on office location an SE may have a designated region, where he/she must maintain competitive sales numbers and call time. The SE is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction from start to finish. Working with the Sales Manager or Director, each SE is responsible for achieving sales goals by soliciting past business and prospecting new business.

Qualifications

  • Ability and motivation to make 85+ contacts daily, at least 2 hrs per day on the phone with teachers
  • Sales/Telemarketing experience, preferably 1+ years
  • Knowledge of culture and geography of Western Europe and/or Asia
  • A four-year college degree
  • A passion for foreign travel 

Senior Sales Executive

Position Summary:

The Sr. Sales Executive position for Explorica Inc. is responsible for the selling of educational tours to teachers traveling with their students.  Depending on office location, a Sr. SE may have a designated region. The Sr. SE is a role model for Explorica’s relational selling model.  The Senior Sales Executive works with his/her Sales Manager or Director to achieve his/her sales goals by soliciting repeat business and prospecting new business. 

Responsibilities:

  • The Sr. Sales Executive solicits new clients and accounts to exceed goals by making cold calls, direct sales calls and following up on potential sales leads.  Maintains relationships with existing clients and accounts and efficiently responds to all inquires made by potential customers via phone or email.
  • Establishes and maintains regular contact with clients and accounts in order to introduce and promote a destination or tour in accordance with company goals, marketing initiatives and sales expectations.  Calls on prospects to solicit business so to create a strong pipeline of future business leads.  
  • Manages sales funnel in such a way so as to be able to forecast business.
  • The Sr. SE exceeds sales goals
  • In a self motivated manner takes responsibility for the entire sales process, from pre-enrollment to post-departure with the teacher.  Works with teachers to set enrollment deadlines for students, and helps develop marketing strategies for the teachers to utilize while enrolling students. Works closely with the Program Management Department to assist with travel details and logistics.  Follows up on all aspects of tour needs including the receipt of necessary air and train tickets, itineraries and other logistics with the teacher to ensure the utmost of service and organization.
  • The Sr. Sales Executive exhibits strong leadership skills and shows willingness to mentor and cultivate the skills of less experienced Sales Executives. The Sr. SE is also responsible for assigned training and orientations as directed by the Sales Manager.
  • Supports all policies and procedures and overall business strategies of Company. Acts as spokes person for business changes to ensure support from all staff members in the department.
  • Exhibits willingness and interest to take on marketing or technology related projects. 
    Educates self on all related tours and Explorica products.  Comprehends the student travel industry with interest to learn more regarding our competition as it compares to Explorica business models.  
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three years progressive sales experience.  Self motivated with a strong drive for success.
  • Student travel specific industry experience. Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to work with all levels of employees and customers in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn new software products a must.
  • Ability to multi-task projects and responsibilities and strong prioritization skills.

 

Accountant (Temporary)

Position Summary:

The Temporary Accountant will be working in an International Finance department, working with daily financial processes and month end reporting.  Located in Boston and covering a maternity leave, this position will last approximately 3-4 month and reports indirectly to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for monthly close duties as assigned, ranging from posting journal entries to preparing reconciliations
• Perform account analysis to assist in management review of monthly financial statements
• Assist with audits of company information or other projects by retrieving supporting documentation from the accounting records
• Perform Fixed Asset review and maintain Fixed Asset Log
• Preparation and entry of month end journal entries including Depreciation, Benefit accruals
• Responsible for Monthly Payroll of US employees
• Prepare Year End Payroll (W-2 + T-4) and Independent contractors 1099s
• Perform Monthly/ Daily Bank Reconciliations
• Perform Accounts Payable duties
• Back up for Accounts Receivable functions

Requirements:

• BS  in Accounting
• 2-3 years solid General Ledger Experience
• Self motivated combined with strong ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Must have generally accepted accounting principle knowledge
• Excellent skills in problem resolution and investigative in nature
• Computer Knowledge: Accounting systems (Great Plains preferred), Reporting tools ( FrX or Crystal Reports preferred), Intermediate MS Excel and MS Word
• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion

Marketing Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible to assist the Director of Marketing and the marketing team to ensure marketing processes occur efficiently and effectively while giving support to varied marketing initiatives. The Marketing Coordinator will assist with direct mail programs, online initiatives, website content updates and other marketing and sales promotion programs.

Marketing Responsibilities:

• Assist coordination of marketing, advertising, and promotional activities
• Provide assistance with direct mail projects and liaison with print vendors/mail houses
• Provide support and organizational assistance for public relations initiatives
• Assist proofreading and content editing of marketing materials
• Handle, execute, and track events and programs for the Explorica Teacher to Teacher Program
• Responsible for the production of promotional items and Explorica branded gear
• Manage storage inventory and ensure accurate follow through in processing of teacher welcome packets and pre-departure packets
• Manage project timelines and calendar for department projects and cross-functional team projects
• Development of marketing tactics and operational plans
• Working with the Marketing Director to set and manage marketing budgets, business cases and metrics
• Provide tracking reports, dash board metrics and program evaluations
• Coordinate department presentations and help with key company or marketing events

Requirements:

• A bachelor degree in marketing preferred
• 1 to 2 years marketing experience
• Proven competency in maintaining marketing strategies and marketing calendars
• A solid understanding of direct marketing, online marketing and experience in coordinating integrated marketing strategies

Product & Land Operations Coordinator – China

Explorica is expanding its business in China and is looking to fill a Boston-based position to support this new venture! This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is entrepreneurial; able to work autonomously and has an interest in being a “jack of all trades” in order to drive the business.

In this position, you will be responsible for the following:

Product Responsibilities

  • Assists the Product Development Manager with:
    • Designing, developing and pricing new programs
    • Developing and Managing Supplier relationships
    • Creating partnerships with academic institutions
  • Works with the China Sales Team to increase group leader and participant enrollment on custom tours and answers pricing and itinerary questions to help maximize sales.
  • Helps maintain desired margin level for all programs using discretion where necessary.  Also monitors and corrects cost discrepancies and updates pricing when applicable.
  • Creates all programs in our website in a timely manner, monitors the accuracy of the information online and displays correct pricing for all tours to maximize sales and ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.


Land Operations Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all facets of China outbound land operations processes and procedures.  Ensures that tour needs are met.  Assists Manager in proactively finding solutions for operational problems. 
  • Works closely with other departments to maintain open lines of communication and smooth transactional processes. 
  • Assists with the booking of all land and bus operations to ensure that all needs are met in this regard.  
  • Assists with supplier contract negotiation regarding hotels, bus companies, restaurants, and activities. 
  • Maintains the database of tour components.
  • Ensures company’s safety standards are met.

Requirements

• Chinese Mandarin, and fluent English required
• Knowledge of both Chinese and American Educational System
• A bachelor’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year office support experience. 
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
