With exciting adventures for students of all subjects, it’s long been a favorite for teachers and parents as well. Check out some of our favorite things to do in Costa Rica.

Visit a volcano
There’s a very good reason why Costa Rica’s flag is emblazoned with a coat of arms containing three volcanoes! Costa Rica has three volcanic mountain ranges, and while many of the country’s volcanoes have gone dormant, a handful are still considered active! A guided excursion through the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano Park will teach you the local legends behind the vaporous clouds that hover over the surrounding area, while a kayaking tour on Lake Arenal gives you the best unobstructed views of the Arenal volcano.

See the wildlife
Costa Rica contains nearly 6 percent of the world’s biodiversity, so when you head into the forest, be prepared to encounter all sorts of curious creatures. Howler monkeys, sloths, sea turtles, parrots, and red-eyed tree frogs are just some of the species that call Costa Rica home. Costa Ricans are serious about preserving the environment that they share with their furry friends, so you’ll find protected biological reserves and national parks all across the country.

Get to know the locals
Visit a local school or challenge the ticos (the local word for Costa Rican natives) to a soccer match to exercise your language skills. Just a short while spent learning about their way of life is enough to teach you the meaning of the country’s official motto: ¡Pura vida! (pure life).

Head to the beach
After all of the adventures that Costa Rica holds, sometimes it’s nice to have a laid back beach day to unwind. Boasting two impressive coastlines, there’s no shortage of spots to catch a nap in the sunshine, snorkel in pristine blue waters, or give surfing a try!

Wanna go?

Let Explorica help!
