In conjunction with WorldStrides, Explorica sent more than 5,000 students and their teachers to participate in this\u00a0historic event.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, not all of us can be in D.C., but that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t soak up the energy and celebrate this special day that\u2019s all about American tradition and celebration. Here\u2019s how the day will play out:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The heart of the party<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6776 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Inauguration.jpg\" alt=\"Inauguration\" width=\"290\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Inauguration.jpg 290w, https:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Inauguration-249x300.jpg 249w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The official proceedings of Inauguration Day commence around noon on the West Lawn of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washington.org\/find-dc-listings\/us-capitol-capitol-visitor-center\">U.S. Capitol<\/a>\u00a0with the vice president-elect and president-elect taking the Oaths of Office, followed by the inaugural address.<\/p>\n<p>Giant video screens and audio systems will stream the proceedings to the thousands of spectators on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washington.org\/dc-neighborhoods\/national-mall\">National Mall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens will flood the sides of Pennsylvania Avenue to cheer on the presidential procession and inaugural parade as it makes its way from the U.S. Capitol to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/washington.org\/DC-guide-to\/white-house\">White House<\/a>. Inauguration Day brings glitz and glamor to DC with the big names in politics, business and entertainment descending on the city.
