Kerry, social studies teacher<\/p><\/div>\n

Kerry is no stranger to international travel.\u00a0\u201cIt started in the 1970s when I backpacked\u00a0around Europe during college,\u201d\u00a0he explains. \u201cI was hooked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerry took frequent trips abroad during\u00a0his time in the corporate world, and even\u00a0lived in the UK while serving as the Dean\u00a0of a summer program at Cambridge University.\u00a0So when he started teaching high school social studies,\u00a0it wasn\u2019t long before his fellow staff called upon him to\u00a0lead their student tours.<\/p>\n

\u201cI researched a lot of companies,\u201d Kerry says. \u201cIf I was\u00a0going to lead trips, I wanted the ability to tailor them to\u00a0my curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerry found the flexibility he needed at Explorica. He\u00a0began planning his first tour in 2008, and since then,\u00a0has led a trip every year. \u201cI work with the same program\u00a0consultant, Sarah, because she knows me well. I might\u00a0look at a tour in the catalog and say, \u2018I really don\u2019t want\u00a0to do that, can we do this instead?\u2019 and she makes it\u00a0happen. It\u2019s trip planning at a totally consultative level.\u201d<\/p>\n

From fly-fishing lessons in Ireland to the Scala Sancta\u00a0in Rome, Kerry and Sarah have organized some truly\u00a0unique experiences. \u201cProbably my all-time favorite was\u00a0taking my students to Mass with a performance by the\u00a0Vienna Boys\u2019 Choir,\u201d says, Kerry. \u201cIt was at the Hapsburg\u00a0palace in Vienna, and the students were in awe. I\u00a0couldn\u2019t have made that happen without Explorica.\u201d<\/p>\n
