Here\u2019s some of our favorite excerpts from our recent interview with her:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>Where did you grow up? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You would never guess it, but this woman of the world is from Minnesota!\u00a0 That\u2019s right, the land of -50 (Fahrenheit) days where school buses wouldn\u2019t start and the indoor malls stretch for miles.\u00a0 I even had the blessed opportunity to work at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mallofamerica.com\/map_directory.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Mall of America<\/a> in High School!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Where did you go to college? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wheaton.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wheaton College<\/a> in Wheaton, IL (Not to be confused with <a href=\"http:\/\/wheatoncollege.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">the one in MA<\/a>).\u00a0 A choice I thought would suit me \u2013 small, liberal arts college, near but not in a major city.<\/p>\n<p>While I enjoyed my Wheaton experience,\u00a0 my best year was the one in which I studied abroad at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bristol.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Bristol<\/a>, in Bristol England.<br \/>\n<em><strong><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Where have you traveled?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oh, I&#8217;ve been around:<\/p>\n<p>Costa Rica, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, England, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Holland, Czech Republic, Monaco, France, Austria, Liechtenstein, Denmark, Sweden, Wales&#8230;and Scotland<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Which Explorica tours have you taken?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"..\/..\/educational-tours\/italy-france-and-spain.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Italy France and Spain<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"..\/..\/educational-tours\/germany-switzerland-and-austria.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Germany Switzerland Austria<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"..\/..\/educational-tours\/madrid-and-andalusia.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Madrid and Andalusia with Portugal Extension<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"..\/..\/educational-tours\/costa-rica.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Costa Rica<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Favorite band, movie, and\/or book\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Time-Travelers-Wife-Audrey-Niffenegger\/dp\/015602943X\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1229097052&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">The Time Traveler\u2019s Wife<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was so good, I started rationing myself so that it wouldn\u2019t end.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>If you could live anywhere else in the entire world, where would that be and why?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I would move back to England in a heart beat.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t want to leave the first time!<\/p>\n<p>I would also love a stint in France before I die.\u00a0 I actually had an opportunity to do so but passed on it and then found Explorica&#8211;which is the next best thing to working abroad.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What do you like to do when you&#8217;re not helping teachers plan fantastic tours?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/sarahs-apt.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">I like being in my new apartment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My husband and I moved to this spectacular brownstone with private roof access and view of the city.\u00a0 I can\u2019t get enough of being at home with Michael and the dog!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Is white chocolate really chocolate?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Does anyone say yes to this?\u00a0 NO, of course it&#8217;s not.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Coke or Pepsi?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Neither.\u00a0 I don\u2019t like pop (as a Minnesotan would say).\u00a0 Water, coffee, or red wine please.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why don&#8217;t you have a Minnesota accent?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not natives (aka\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/allieinthecity.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/05\/800px-swedish_fish.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\">Scandinavian<\/a>) which made for immense teasing in school.\u00a0 My dad is Greek and was raised in Chicago, and my mother is from Colorado.\u00a0 Minnesota is just where they ended up.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think a day goes by where they don\u2019t complain that they have to live in Minnesota, but the funny thing is they moved once when I was in college and then moved back six months later.<\/p>\n<p>Go figure.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What&#8217;s your favorite thing about your new dog?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s out of proportion \u2013 he has a big head, long body, and big paws.\u00a0 A true puppy figure even though he\u2019s full grown.\u00a0 That and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.explorica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/sarahs-dog.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">his face is irresistible<\/a>.\u00a0 He also has a fetish with sticks.\u00a0 He can\u2019t go on a walk without picking up one twice as long as his body and carrying it around.\u00a0 I could go on and on, but I will stop here with my top three.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why are you smiling?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Because I just discovered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop.php?user_id=28415&amp;order=&amp;section_id=&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\">The Fuzzy Bunny<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of our main goals with Explorations is to give everyone an opportunity to meet the fine folks who work at Explorica to help teachers take their students on educational tours across the globe.
