Article by Explorica Business Development Manager Phil Todisco.
On my recent Explorica trip to Spain this June, I was confronted with what to do on my last day in Barcelona. I had until 2 pm before I had to catch a flight to meet up with my tour group in Madrid.
It was an overcast, yet warm and comfy day, at the end of a wonderful stay in Barcelona. I had already visited La Sagrada Família, Las Ramblas and Park Güell with wonderful local guides. I absolutely loved the sights and history of this beautiful city, but what could I do (on my own) to explore just a little more of this city before moving on?
Bike to Barceloneta! Yes, sir. For just 6 euro, I was able to rent a sturdy bike for two hours! It proved to be the perfect choice. My hotel (Hotel Rialto, just off Las Ramblas) was conveniently located for city walks but just a bit too far to really get to the beach. Renting a bike provided me with plenty of time and energy to traverse the entire length of Barceloneta, while getting some aerobic exercise and wind in my sails!
There are plenty of bike paths, so there’s only a few places with risk of traffic woes. There’s lots of small stands with water and even fruit cups. Why not? I’m riding a bike and acting healthy, right? You can easily ride the length of the beach, from the magnificent W hotel, all the way to the trendy beachfront tapas bars further north. You can ride right along the beach, or up on a bike path. I did both! And don’t miss the Real Yacht Club de Barcelona for some of the most luxurious boats in Spain! Rumor has it that Cristiano Ronaldo keeps his private yacht there as well!
A couple of things to note. You will want to stay with your bike at all times. The bike rental did not come with a lock, so you have to use your time wisely. The rental process couldn’t have been any easier, though. All we needed to do was leave our license – no deposit, just the 6 Euros for the two hours. I rented mine at BornBike Barcelona. They have many locations and are very friendly and eager to help.
So, on your next trip to Barcelona, cinch up your back pack and pedal your way to the shores of Barceloneta!

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her
ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off
topic but I had to tell someone!

I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most
