Bio: I grew up in Watertown Massachusetts, where in high school I played soccer, ran track, and (for the most part) stayed out of trouble. It was a high school biology trip to the island of Bonaire that ignited my passion for international educational travel. Along with the snorkeling–where I got to see local flora and fauna up close (well, through a mask at least…)–I also realized that travel–and educational travel in particular–was something I would make a priority for the rest of my life.
After high school, I wanted to get away from Boston winters for awhile, so I headed down south for college at the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!). Along with majoring in psychology and mentoring inner city youth through The Carver Promise, I also spent the first semester of senior year abroad, studying the Spanish language and culture in Seville, Spain.
For a year after college, I put my Psychology degree to use working for the May Center for Child Development in Chatham, Massachusetts. Although working with the kids at the May Institute was a phenomenal experience, I found myself missing Boston and decided to move back to the city.
In the midst of planning my return to Boston, a good friend of my brother’s, Rich Beekman, mentioned there was a position opening at Explorica for a Program Consultant. I interviewed and accepted the position immediately; excited to talk about travel with teachers and exchange stories. Since working for Explorica, I’ve helped hundreds of teachers and thousands of students take tours around the world. As for myself, I’ve taken the London, Paris, & Cote d’Azur tour, the Best of Ireland tour, and the Athens and the Aegean tour. Additionally, I’ve helped lead teacher conventions in London and Barcelona.
In the few hours between sleep and work, I still play soccer, root for the Red Sox, and practice my brand-new hobby–skiing–whenever I can.
