Bio: I was born and raised in New Bedford, MA which is on the coast approximately 50 miles south of Boston.  The classic “Moby Dick” is set in New Bedford which was once the whaling capital of the world (now illegal!).  It’s a colorful city with a lot of history.

Growing up I was hugely into dance.  I’ve studied every type of dance from ballet, tap, and jazz to hip hop and belly dancing, and I performed dance yearly up until I graduated high school (even competing in national competitions.)

I received my B.A. in Sociology and Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, which is in a gorgeous town in a valley out west near the Berkshire Mountains.  I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh country air and became an avid hiker.  My interest was first sparked to travel abroad when I was presented with the opportunity to study for a summer in Salamanca, Spain during my junior year of college -  I’ve had the travel bug ever since!

I went to Spain with two college friends and after spending an incredible month in Salamanca, we backpacked around for another month visiting the rest of Spain, Morocco, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France.  I returned to the United States a new woman and with a new love for international travel and languages.

After two years back home in the States I heard Europe calling my name once again – well, Italy specifically!  As I’ve also always had an affinity for organic agriculture I joined the  Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF), and for almost a year I traveled all over Italy and Sicily,  staying with families and working part-time on their family farms in exchange for room and board.   It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

My travel experiences have taught me that international travel is vital to the education of our youth and that no classroom can compete with the knowledge and worldly understanding that it imparts.  I truly enjoy working for Explorica and giving teachers and their students this life altering opportunity.  Rest assured that I am checking out your Tour Diary while you are abroad….and that I am jealous!

I myself have had the chance to travel on our France and Germany tour as well as to help lead our Explorica 101 teacher orientation in London.

When I’m not at work I enjoy shopping, dining out, practicing yoga, cooking, hiking, bicycle riding, and, of course, going dancing!
