Excursion to Lamanai.
After a hearty breakfast, the group boarded a bus which took us North to the beautiful village of Carmelita where we then got on a boat which took us up the New River to the ancient city-state of Lamanai!
On this excursion, we say howler monkeys, spider monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas..... and this list goes on and on!! We had the Belizean national dish (rice and beans, stew chicken& cole slaw) for lunch then went to explore the site.
It was a giant step back in time which the kids found quite interesting, the day was on the warm side so that was a factor along with a few bugs but all in all, a quite enjoyable time.
After the tour, we boarded the boat for a fast ride back to the bus then off to the city!! That raps up our first full day of exploring the jungles of Belize.
