We arrived early in the Athens airport and made our way to the hotel. which is close to Omonia square. We freshened up a bit and then took the metro into town. The subway is so clean here and the stations are like museums, with the finds behind glass for everyone to see. We wlaked through Plaka area, saw the tower of the winds, the library of Hadrian and Monastiraki square. We had lunch here and enjoyed our first Greek salads, cheese pies and lamb. After lunch we strolled back through Plaka, where we shopped and enjoyed the town. Athens is such a vibrant city! This aftrenoon we will have abit of a rest and tonight we will have dinner in our hotel. Tomorrow: the Acropolis!!
