Day 2: June 5, 2008

Upon arrival in Athens we boarded our bus and checked into Hotel Candia. After dinner we took out city walk. It was a beautiful night in Athens. We all learned how to take the metro that built for the 2004 Olympic Games. Many archaeological discoveries were made while building the metro and they are on display in Syntagma Station. We saw Parliament which was originally a palace for King Otto and Queen Amalia. We visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and even saw the Evzones changing their posts! We walked down Ermou Street and entered the Plaka district. Athens looks so beautiful by night with the Acropolis illuminated above. We stopped for some delicious gelato and then made our way back to the hotel to get some rest. Tomorrow we will have a tour of the Acropolis and set sail for our 7 day cruise. Bye for now!
